On June 20th, the game company Krafton and NewJeans‘ agency ADOR issued an official statement revealing that “some users have recently been creating and sharing inappropriate content using NewJeans’ characters“.

They emphasized, “This behavior is not in line with the brand image and values of both parties and is unpleasant for all fans.”

To address this issue, ADOR and Krafton announced, “We will take appropriate actions against items that do not align with the collaboration’s intent. This is to foster a healthier environment within the game, ensuring all users can enjoy it safely. All users must adhere to PUBG’s community guidelines, which prohibit the posting of inappropriate content. Violations of these guidelines may result in penalties affecting game use.”

They further stated, “We take this situation seriously and will actively respond to inappropriate content. Problematic posts will be removed, and the users responsible may face restrictions on their community activities.

Additionally, they appealed for cooperation from fans, urging them to report any inappropriate content immediately.

ADOR and Krafton admitted, “The outfits were designed based on the game’s rating (15+), ensuring they did not exceed the level of idol stage costumes. However, we did not fully anticipate the potential for some users to misuse existing in-game content inappropriately, which has undermined the collaboration’s intent.”

They concluded by stating, “Both ADOR, which prioritizes the protection of artists and respect for the fandom, and Krafton, which aims to provide innovative and enjoyable experiences through game content, share a common goal of artist protection and promoting a healthy and positive community culture. We reiterate that artist protection has always been a top priority in our collaboration.”
